As you get older, forcing yourself to be active and healthy becomes less of a priority as other things in your life start to take over your time. However, the importance of being healthy should be a huge priority in your life as the healthiness of your body is going to determine how long you live. Now, we know this is a rather sad start to an article, but we promise after this it will be plain sailing.
Staying healthy is key and doing it isn’t too hard and can mostly be enjoyable. This is actually where it comes down to you. Finding a sport or activity that you enjoy and keeps you fit is essential as motivation is a hard thing for a lot of people.
Below, we are going to run through some of the most popular sports or activities that you can do to keep yourself in peak condition all year round!
Hiking and Walking
Starting with arguably the easiest of the bunch, a good walk or hike is an incredible way to keep yourself moving. The good thing about a good walk is the lack of equipment you really need, all you need to bring is some comfy shoes you don’t mind walking in and some water to make sure you keep yourself hydrated, quick and easy.
Long and regular walks reduce stress, strengthen your muscles and cardiovascular health as well as them making you feel better all around. We suggest starting with short distances, and then moving pace by pace until you are eventually able to go on long hikes quickly.
Playing Football
This is more targeted to people who are already interested in football and the things that surround football like Champions League betting or attending matches as these people will have some knowledge and skill of the sport. Although football may seem like it takes up a lot of time, joining a six-aside or five-aside team that plays in the weeks or the weekends is a quick and easy way to get some exercise in.
Compared to walking, playing football is more beneficial as a whole as it requires running around and using your strength and coordination skills to put in a good performance. Overall, football is less accessible to people compared to walking, but for pure enjoyment, playing football wins ten times over.
Tennis
Until a few years ago, we thought we could count on one hand the amount of times we played tennis and until we started, we didn’t realise the benefits and the sheer amount of fun you get from playing tennis with some friends.
Tennis overall is a very fun sport that we perceive as underrated both to watch and to play. The sport itself is incredibly good for you as it requires strength, balance, speed, hand-eye coordination and overall agility to be at the top of their games. Socially, getting your friends to play tennis with you as novices makes the experience that much more fun.
Jumping into playing tennis with people who are actually good at it will leave you frustrated and down in the dumps, but playing against people who are equally as bad is a good way to improve your skills over time and have fun while doing so.
